I am sure most of us are familiar with the saying “those will be big shoes to fill.” Well, in this case that phrase is entirely accurate and appropriate.
Jennifer came to us and was hired by Pastor Craig in June of 2017. Her job title at the time was receptionist / office assistant. This was Jennifer’s first job away from her home as she had spent the prior 14 years of her life raising her daughters. She felt it was time to apply her skills elsewhere and she was hired on by our church.
It didn’t take long to realize the varied number of skills she had in her arsenal and her duties and responsibilities expanded dramatically. She embraced the challenges and soon took on more of an office management role to include the building, data base and human resources. She also helped with church usage with internal and outside groups including weddings, funerals and baptisms.
Sadly, Jennifer has come to realize that she needs to once again, focus on family matters. She recently lost her father and now her mother is suffering from health issues. Jennifer wants to care for her mother and stay with her during these critical times. Additionally, the family has moved out into the country. They are raising chickens and ducks and have added a growing list of chores to include gardening and tending to the property. Jennifer felt it best to tender her resignation which the church understood and supported.
She has also agreed to help with training when we find and hire a new person. Oh, and did I mention, Jennifer has helped put together existing job descriptions along with creating and updating her current position. Her last day “officially” will be Thursday, May 13.
The church members will have the opportunity to say their good-byes to Jennifer after service on June 13. Let’s hope for good weather as then the reception will take place outside. If the weather does not cooperate, we will be downstairs at the Son Café. Please plan to join us. Any cards or parting gifts are welcome and appreciated. A basket for her will be available at the reception area of the office.
Jennifer has served our church with kindness and distinction. Job well done Jennifer. Thank you and we will miss you.
