Giving Frequently Asked Questions
If I already give online, do I still need to activate a new Elexio Giving account?
Yes, because all online giving will be processed through the church’s new portal, Elexio Giving, starting January 1, 2020.
Is my giving information secure?
Absolutely. Any personal or financial information you enter is encrypted using SSL security – the same state-of-the-art security measures used by online retailers, banks, and other financial institutions.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept donations from credit/debit cards as well as your bank account (our recommendation). While the church is happy to accept your donation by any means, bank account donations cost significantly less, allowing more of your gift to go towards ministry.
Do I need to create an account?
No. That said, we do recommend creating one so that you can view your online giving history. Also, you will be asked to create an account if you’d like to setup recurring donations.
Will I receive a receipt when I give online?
Quarterly statements will be sent. In addition, your Elexio account gives you access to your giving history. For help, please contact the office.
Is there a minimum or maximum I can give online?
No. That said, for very large gifts, we recommend you contact the office or the Bookkeeper to ensure your gift is processed in a timely fashion. (Our internal giving security can flag large donations for security reasons).
Pledging FAQ
What does it mean to pledge?
By making a pledge you indicate your desire and intent to help support First Congregational UCC financially in the coming year. You choose the amount you wish to give, and how frequently. As Christians we view financial giving as a sacred rite, a practice that deepens our faith. For many, a pledge creates a structured way to do this.
How is my pledge donation used?
Your giving is vital to the daily work of our congregation. You create opportunities for worship and music, learning for all ages, small group and community enrichment, and outreach programs to serve our neighbors in need. Your pledge to general operating also covers regular building maintenance and repairs.
How much should I give?
Give an amount that is meaningful to you. Prayerfully consider what is possible for your household at this time. Many in our congregation strive to tithe, to give 10% of their income away to charity each year.
How much should I increase my pledge?
A deficit budget was approved by the congregation for 2020. This means we will need to increase overall giving by $30,000 to support our ministries.
Is there a deadline to receive my annual pledge?
Yes. Giving is good anytime, but please try to make your pledge by Easter Sunday, April 12th. Your pledge will help us as we gather again in our sanctuary once it is safe to do so.
Can I pledge to First Congregational UCC online?
Yes, many people set up a recurring gift. Click here to set up your pledge, choose the frequency and method of payment. Because we have a new giving portal, you may be prompted to register your new Elexio Giving account first.
Do I need to fill out a new pledge if I give a recurring gift online?
It is helpful if you do. This action also gives you an opportunity to prayerfully consider the amount of your gift for the coming year.
