Job Description

The Director of Family Ministry helps minister to families to embrace, inspire, and energize children and youth, members, new families, and the church neighborhood to seek, serve and share the love of God.

Description and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Children’s and Youth Ministries
    • Maintain an educational curriculum for all children and youth Sunday School classes.
    • Develop and maintain the calendar of family ministries and all children and youth programs.
    • Work in partnership with the Children’s Education Board
    • Schedule participation of children and youth in Sunday morning worship services
  • Build relationships with the families of First Congregational Church
    • Serve as a faithful member of the staff with responsibility to minister to members of all ages and to all those touched by the mission and ministry of First Congregational UCC, taking primary responsibility for ministering to FCC’s children, youth, and their families.
      • Regularly attend worship services and engage members, families, and visitors
      • Form personal relationships with FCC children, youth, and their families
      • Discuss upcoming events and any current needs with congregation, and seek volunteers to participate in events and help with ministry needs.
      • Coordinate pastoral care to FCC’s children, youth, and their families, involving the Senior Pastor or making appropriate referrals when necessary..
  • Administration and Development
    • Provide supervision of the Child Care Coordinator.
    • Develop youth as leaders within the program and as participants in the total life of our community of faith, including worship, service, and fellowship.
    • Ensure the recruitment, development, training, and coordination of youth leaders and Sunday school teachers and other volunteers related to the youth program have taken place.
